What you need to know about "driveless cars"

Automobiles are coming faster than you think.

The U.K. government announced today that they’re planning to let driverless cars on public roads by next January. Umm… what? How can a car be driverless, you ask? Will break it down for you:

1. They Already Exist

You know how an airplane can be set to autopilot? Same goes for cars. A “driverless car” refers to a car that can steer, accelerate, indicate and break on its own. Technology… Remember "Mr Bean" sitting on his car while the car was on motion in one of his movies?

2. They Can Watch You

But while airplanes don’t have too much traffic to deal with in the sky — other than the occasional, doomed bird — cars have a ton of other things to think about (innocent people like us, for instance). That’s why one traffic-managing technique for driverless cars is “computer vision.” It attaches cameras to the cars that take 360-degree images of anything and everything in the car’s vicinity. So yeah, it can see you scarfing down donuts on your way to work.

3. They Still Have To Follow The Law

But what if one of these megabot cars gets pulled over for running a red? It’s not like a cop can arrest a driver who isn’t there, right? That’s a kink that’s still being worked on. Self-driving cars aren’t off the hook — they’ll still have to comply with all traffic laws — but the British government’s still trying to figure out where responsibility would sit in case accidents happen.

4. They’ll Be Coming Stateside Soon

Never one to be outdone, the U.S. is getting on board, too. Or more specifically, Google is. All hail the G. In May, the tech tycoon said it has plans to manufacture 100 self-driving cars that don’t have steering wheels or pedals — just a stop-go button. They’re currently being tested at Google’s California headquarters, and could hit the roads as early as this year.

5. They’re Smarter Than You

Google’s prototype of a driverless car includes some crazy-smart technology. First, the car can be “summoned” from your smartphone so that it’ll pick you up from wherever you are. Like an Uber without the creepy, over-talkative driver. Then, when your ride’s over, a message pops up on the screen to remind you not to leave any of your stuff behind. So “I forgot it in my car” is no longer a valid excuse

6. They’re Not Made For Ridin’ Dirty

Sorry, but you’re not going to look as tough as you think driving one of these suckers. For now, Google’s car can only reach speeds up to 25 miles per hour — hardly fast and furious. Plus, one look at these little guys will prove it wasn’t built with Vin Diesel in mind — Google purposely made the front of the car look like a friendly smiley face. Aww, how adorb!

7. The FBI’s Not On Board

So you’re convinced that driverless cars are totally awesome, right? Not so fast — they may seem like the next big thing, but so far, the FBI isn’t budging on this one. It’s saying driverless cars could be used as “lethal weapons,” and would make it possible for criminals to “multitask” by taking their hands off the wheels. True that. Bottom line: it’s going to take a lot of back-and-forth arguing before these robot cars become a regular thing on the roads. Bummer.

Get ready for technology...

Aba prayer vigil catastrophe: Survivors narrate the story

Survivors of the carbon monoxide inhalation incident at a prayer vigil in Aba, Abia State, during the weekend have recounted their experiences.

The survivors are now recuperating at the Austin Graces and Goodness and Mercy Hospital on Okigwe Road, Aba.

Fifteen of the 16 people, who had gone for the prayers on Eziukwu Road on Friday, were found unconscious on Saturday, while one person died in the incident.
Uchechukwu Sylvester, one of the affected persons, narrated his experience in an interview from his hospital bed.

“It was Friday night and we went for tarry night at Eziukwu road. I can tell you that we started the prayers by 10 p.m.

“Within some hours, I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what kind of spirit that visited us; what we noticed was that some of us were falling to the ground.

“At a point, our coordinator took the microphone and rounded off the prayers after which he himself fell down to the ground.

“That was all I knew until I saw myself in this hospital on Sunday being fed by one of my brothers with rice,” he said.

He praised God for bringing them back to life.
Another victim, Mary Nwankwo, who suffered ear blockage in the incident, said she was getting better.
“My ear is opening little by little now. I thank God for saving us. I thank God for keeping us alive. May God who did it be praised”, she said.

Kalu Ogbonnaya, a fashion designer, said that they were praising God during the prayer meeting and all of a sudden, one of them fell flat and did not move his body.

Soon, another person fell to the ground and others followed one by one but they never knew what was happening to them.

He, however, said that they suspected it was the Holy Spirit moving in their midst.
He said he soon became weak and fell down and wanted to vomit but could not, adding that that was all he knew until he woke up in the hospital the following day.

Mr. Ogbonnaya thanked God for saving their lives from perishing at an all-night prayer meeting.

A sex toy was found stucked in a Lady's vigina after 10years

Some Doctors in a Scottish hospital discovered a sex toy that had been stuck in a lady's vagina which has been causing her discomfort for a decade.

A 38-year-old Scottish woman went to the hospital after contracting sepsis, and doctors found a five-inch long object inside her vagina that extended into her bladder. When doctors asked her what this could possibly be, the woman recalled that she had been using a sex toy with a partner when it got lost inside her for 10years. It’s an epic understatement to say this trip to the doctor’s office was long overdue.

How could the woman not have gone to a doctor sooner? The “Journal of Sexual Medicine” noted that the woman was not mentally impaired or depressed and showed no signs of abuse. And if she remembered the incident from a decade ago, she can’t be that absent minded. Our guess is that she was embarrassed, hoped the problem would fix itself and would occasionally think back on that time she lost a sex toy in her vagina.

Thank God, the doctors were able to remove the sex toy and discharge the woman with a clean bill of health. But if you ever lose anything inside your body, don’t wait too long to get help.

Things you never knew about condoms

Learning is fun. Almost as fun as...well, you know....
by Zach Sims

Condoms: the greatest thing to ever happen in the history of sex without (quite as many) consequences, but how much do you know about your latex saviors? Feel free to whip these factoids out the next time you’re struggling to come up with something to talk about at the bar, ’cause that won’t be weird.

1. Magnum condoms are only .32 inches longer than regular ones.

2. Condoms are strictly regulated by the FDA. Just like Advil.

3. Don’t worry, lambskin condoms aren’t made from lambs’ skin. They’re made from their intestines!

4. September 16 is Global Female Condom Day.

5. One in four acts of vaginal intercourse involve a condom. When sharing this fact with someone you’re attracted to, try not to call it “vaginal intercourse.”

6. Only 39% of high school students are taught how to properly put on a condom.

7. Female condoms can be inserted up to eight hours before sex.

8. The first artistic rendering of a condom was in the French cave Grotte des Combarelles roughly 12,000-15,000 years ago.

9. In 2012, Durex provided over 150,000 condoms to athletes at the London Olympics.

10. All condoms undergo rigorous testing including water and air inflation tests as well as an electronic hole inspection. The robots keep your condoms safe.

The Doctor who has been treating Ebola patients dies from the virus

The doctor who has a very good mind for saving lives from the Ebola virus just died. The Sierra Leonean doctor whose name is Dr Sheik Umar Khan (pictured above), who was hailed as a national hero for disregarding his own health and helping sick patients, died today July 29th from the disease after being diagnosed with the virus last week. He contacted the virus despite wearing protective gear when treating patients. Before his death he has treated more than 100 Ebola patients.

In an interview last month, the 39yr old doctor had expressed fears for his life because of his constant contact with Ebola patients.
"I am afraid for my life. Health workers are prone to the disease because we are the first port of call for somebody who is sickened by the disease. Even with the full protective clothing you put on, you are at risk" He told Reuters
His death comes days after a senior doctor at Liberia's largest hospital, Samuel Brisbane, died on Saturday at an Ebola treatment centre in Monrovia. 3 nurses working in the same Ebola treatment centre alongside Khan also died from the disease last week. Several other medics have been infected.

Landmark University produced 39 first class

The Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State has produced 39 first class graduates out of the 386 students that graduated during the 2013/2014 academic session, the Chancellor, of the institution, Bishop David Oyedepo has said. He also said that 186 students graduated in second class Upper, 152 in the second class Lower and nine in the third class categories of the institution’s 13 academic programmes, during its first convocation on Saturday. He stated that the students earned first degrees in Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Sociology and Economics. He added that part of the students bagged degrees in other disciplines, such as Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Physics, Industrial Mathematics, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Computer Science. Oyedepo said, “The investment of our church in education is therefore a visionary move aimed, in the case of Landmark University, at prosecuting an agricultural revolution as a solution to the nation’s food challenges. “We are releasing this set of pathfinders also as highly employable graduates, having been specially equipped as productive human resources entities. “These graduates have run through a unique education mill and have been equipped with required leadership skills to become agents of change in the leadership that awaits them.” Oyedepo, who is also the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, appealed to Nigerian leaders to redesign their policies towards developing agriculture so as to reduce the high rate of unemployment and insecurity in the country. He claimed that the university authorities had tackled the nation’s challenge of low enrolment for agricultural programmes. He added that the management had carried out enlightenment visits to secondary schools and had instituted scholarship programme for students of agriculture. “In preparing our students for the world of work and in line with the agriculture revolution mandate of the university, farm practice is a mandatory aspect of their curriculum for all students to develop their agricultural entrepreneurial skill, which helps to generate their interest in agriculture, as well help them understand the dignity of labour,” he said. The Minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, called on tertiary institutions in the country and other stakeholders to   put an end to the practice of treating agriculture as a development programme only. He stated that agriculture should rather be made as a business in order to unlock its potential, adding that the country would evolve a new growth model to unlock the huge potential of Nigeria’s agricultural lands. Akinwumi, in his keynote address at the convocation, said Nigeria’s achievements had remained exclusive, noting that millions of people feel alienated and only hear about the growth numbers. “Today, Nigeria is the fourth fastest growing economy in the world, and we are now the largest economy in Africa. “The growth in Nigeria, as in most of the countries in Africa, is not inclusive. Nigeria’s rural economies harbour the greatest share of those being left behind or excluded. “There is no doubt, therefore, that we need a new growth model that stimulates shared posterity, creates job for millions of our rural youths and unlock the huge potentials of lands,” he said. He stated that the Federal Government had inaugurated the Agriculture Transformation Agenda to ensure national food security and make the country self-reliant. The Vice-Chancellor, Landmark University, Prof. Ola-Rotimi Ajayi, said the varsity had established collaboration with leading research organiz=sations to enhance the performance of the students.

9-year-old schoolboy and his 61-year-old wife

A 9-year-old schoolboy has become one of the world's youngest grooms for the 2nd time, marrying his 62-year-old wife again. Looking a little taller in last year's silvery tuxedo, baby faced Saneie Masilela clutched the hand of Helen Shabangu as they repeated their vows one year on.
Last year the boy, from nearby Tshwane, tied the knot with bride Helen after claiming he had been told by his dead ancestors to wed. Shockingly his family took the message from the heavens seriously and hurriedly forked out £500 for the bride and a further £1,000 for the big day.
The second marriage ceremony was this time held at the home of the blushing bride in Ximhungwe in Mpumalanga, South Africa, in front of around 100 guests. Wide-eyed residents looked on as the married mother-of-five shared a piece of cake, a toast and even a kiss with her young groom Sanele -  and long-term husband Alfred Shabangu, 66.
