27 people killed and 155 injured during a rock concert that featured fireworks last night

According to the Romanian government officials and witnesses. There was a fire and explosion in a Bucharest nightclub killing 27 people and injured 155 during a rock concert that featured fireworks last night.

Part of the show was to feature pyrotechnic effects and there were fireworks inside the club.

During the show, the fireworks shot through the club’s ceiling which busted into flames that caused an explosion and heavy smoke.

“There was a stampede of people running out of the (Colectiv) club,” a man who escaped without shoes told Reuters.

“In five seconds the whole ceiling was all on fire. In the next three, we rushed to a single door,” says another witness.

This nightclub disaster started by fireworks led to many victims burnt beyond recognition some intoxicated with smoke and people squashed

Confirming the incident by the Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis he said:

“The situation is slowly stabilising. I want to assure you of all support from rescuing forces and ask you to trust they put all efforts to limit the impact of this catastrophe.”

The victims were admitted to 10 hospitals in Bucharest, and an emergency meeting of cabinet ministers have been set to assess the incident.

12 years imprisonment for stealing petroleum products

At the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday 30th October 2015, seven men were sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for stealing petroleum products.

 Adedamola Ogungbayi, Olaniran Olabode, Suraju Gasali, Moses Emmanuel, Wilson Bonsi, Okaraodi Uche and Onyeogo Happy were found guilty by Justice Okon Abang of dealing in 1,459 metric tonnes of premium motor spirit (petrol) without licence. 

The judge held that the convicts’ crime amounted to economic sabotage. He described them as “godless”, saying such acts must be punished.

He said: “The convicts have no sympathy for the corporate existence of this country. The seed of wrongdoing may be sown in secret but the harvest cannot be concealed. Today is the day of reckoning.

“You call it oil bunkering or pipeline vandalism, but this menace has reached an alarming proportion in this country. Enough is enough.

“The convicts are godless and lawless, without any particle of sympathy for this country. They are part of the people that have contributed to the economic woes of this country.

“The convicts planted thorns, they cannot expect to gather flowers; they sowed the wind, and they must gather whirlwind.”

The judge also ordered that the vessel, MT Good Success, used in committing the crime, as well as the recovered petroleum product be forfeited to the Federal Government.

Justice Abang ordered the forfeiture of the sums of N66.6 million and $975,000 (about N194m) belonging to the convicts’ company, Hepa Global Energy Limited, domiciled with the First City Monument Bank.

An affidavit of compliance with the orders of forfeiture must be filed within 21 days of the judgment, the judge directed.

The convicts, their vessel and company were re-arraigned last August 28 on five counts, along with Padoun Jacob, who was discharged and acquitted yesterday.

The judge, in setting Jacob free on all the five counts, described him as a desperate job seeker, who became a victim of circumstances.

He noted that the stolen product had been loaded before Jacob was employed by Hepa Global Energy Limited on February 7, 2014.

“The guilty should not escape punishment but the innocent should not be punished,” the judge held.

Rather than life sentence, which is the maximum penalty for the crime, the judge handed each of the convicts a 10-year jail term on each of the counts, and two years on the fifth count. The total of 12 years will run concurrently.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecutor, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, said the convicts violated sections 19(c) and 17 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“The workers have been there around the clock and Jay Z is very sympathetic to all of them,” said the insider. “He has been buying them food, giving them extra money and constantly telling them how great the place looks.” But the insider added that Bey hasn’t been as welcoming to the team since the project isn’t being completed as soon as the duo expected.

“They got into a huge fight in front of everyone over how he is handling the move,” the insider said. “He told her that the only reason they chose this place to begin with is because it is what she wanted, not him. Oprah Winfrey speaks about her secret son

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Winfrey explains that her so-called son, Calvin Mitchell, is a boy she met in the early '90s while filming in the Chicago projects for There Are No Children Here. Winfrey became so taken with Mitchell that she decided to help him and his family by enrolling Mitchell in a private school and helping his mother find a job.

But after the school principal called Winfrey to say that Mitchell hadn't been attending class, the family explained that they couldn't wake up on time to get him to school.

"We realized they don't have any clocks in the house," she said. "We went out, Stedman and I, went to K-Mart that moment, got a bag full of clocks, came back to the house, taught them how to set the alarm and all that."

Despite Winfrey's best efforts, Mitchell was eventually expelled from school and then refused to attend a Mississippi boarding school Winfrey found for him.

"I said, 'Calvin, this is the moment. This is a seminal moment for you. I know you are 16 and can't see the road ahead, but if you leave this school and refuse to get an education -- I have tried to offer you an education twice -- there isn't another school I can put you in. If you leave this school, I am done. There is nothing else I can do.' ... And that was my last conversation with Calvin in the early '90s," explained Winfrey.

When Mitchell recently approached Winfrey after she taped The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the TV mogul initially wanted to set up a time to speak with him privately. Though that changed once she found out he had spoken to a tabloid.

"When I realized the whole thing was a setup, I was no longer interested in speaking to him," she said.

"I learned from that experience, if you really want to change somebody's life, you gotta be able to spend enough time with them to change the way they think about what their life can be," said Winfrey. "It isn't enough to give a person a new life or money or a new car, you have to teach them how to fish themselves."
